Chlamydia Screening

The Teenage Pregnancy Strategy supports the NHS target to screen 35% of Redbridge 16-25 year olds for Chlamydia.

Chlamydia screening is available at most YPF sites, pharmacies, Family planning and Brook Clinics, GP practices and through outreach events.

“The National Chlamydia Screening Programme creates opportunities for promotion of effective contraception to young people so that they receive the range of information & support they need to protect their sexual health through a single intervention” (Teenage Pregnancy Strategy; beyond 2010, pg 31)

Chlamydia screening is an excellent opportunity to promote condom use and discuss safer sex with young people, supporting the wider sexual health strategy.

We also support chlamydia screening in schools to post-16 students, alongside educational sessions on chlamydia, local services and using condoms.

Free Chlamydia Home Test Kits are available to order for 16-25year olds from; http://www.youngandfree.org.uk/
