The Teenage Pregnancy Strategy and the Voluntary Sector

Back
To Top

A wide range of risk factors can contribute to a young person becoming pregnant including a dislike and disengagement from school, low aspirations, being in care and many more. For the young people for whom these risk factors are a reality the main support networks in their lives may come from the voluntary sector in the form of youth groups and support services. Raising young people’s aspirations and delivering opportunistic SRE from people they know and trust can be key in reducing the risks of teenage pregnancy.

By working together with the voluntary sector Redbridge Teenage Pregnancy Strategy aims to reduce under-18 conceptions and provide holistic support for teenage parents.
