Teenage Pregnancy Strategy
In 1999 the Labour Government launched a 10 year national teenage pregnancy strategy. The strategy had three aims; to halve under-18 conception rate, to maintain a downward trend in the number of under-16 conceptions and to increase the number of teenage parents accessing education, employment or training by 60%.
Nationally the strategy has performed well with under-18 and under-16 conception rates now at their lowest levels in England in over 20 years. National Conception data can be found by visiting the Office for National Statistics website.

All professionals working with young people have a remit for reducing Teenage Pregnancy; through opportunistic Sex & Relationships Education, support in delaying early sex, knowledge & promotion of local contraception services and in raising aspirations & building self-esteem.
This website aims to support all professionals working with young people in Redbridge to help them resist pressure to make decisions that are not right for them and to stay healthy when they do become sexually active.
