SRE in Schools & Peer Education
The Skills Factory delivers a peer led Sex and Relationship Education Programme in Redbridge schools called RESPECT.
Peer Facilitators start at RESPECT as volunteers. The volunteers are trained during an accredited 20 week course, which covers Sex & Relationship Education, Child Protection, Personal Effectiveness and a Tutor qualification.
The programme includes practical classroom delivery of SRE through observation & shadowing of experienced peer educators.
The RESPECT Programme supports peer educators into further training and helps to increase confidence and skills through their training and delivery of SRE.
In addition to delivering sessions in schools the peer educators in the RESPECT programme have also produced a film called UNDER PRESSURE. The DVD is used as a teaching resource within schools as part of a peer pressure lesson.
The film has received excellent feedback and there are plans to make another film as requested by the class students through lesson evaluation.
